Editorial data

The monthly magazine A Águia, published between December 1910 and June 1932, ran for a total of 205 issues spread out in five series.

Starting from the second series, the publication presented itself as the organ of the intellectual movement Renascença Portuguesa. While reaffirming the pertinence of the 1910 principles, the magazine now sought to bring together a number of scattered intellectuals, to publish original texts, and to contribute toward the cultural rebirth of the Portuguese identity under the political banner of freedom, democracy, and the Republic.

Throughout the publication, Brazil stood out as the most privileged country in terms of cultural and political presence and dialogue. A Águia’s headquarters were always located in Porto, but between May 1920 and June 1921, the magazine was printed by the Anuário do Brasil, in Rio de Janeiro.
